latest from Iran

Well, the old media wasn't much cop there at all. After an hour of trying to catch something, the information was sparse and outdated. It's a similar gap now between the way newspapers were superceded by television. Because TV relies on images and a single reporter, there is a considerable gap between events and reports in those situations where live footage is not possible, as now. Ironically, newspapers and radio are now better suited to imitate and expand upon the instant net news.
So the BBC is saying there is now news yet from outside Tehran of protests. But apart from Shiraz mentioned earlier, this video's been on YouTube for 5 hours from this lunchtime in Tabriz:

That's a popular uprising, not a small protest!

The demo in Tehran is massive - tens of thousands. Latest rumour is 3 million! The impression i get is that the demonstrators themselves can't believe how big the crowd is - I think they'd all expected another small crowd to get beaten and dispersed. No idea how the regime will respond to this!
